Electrical Controls Engineer designs, develops, and supervises all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. May be responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software. Being an Electrical Controls Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Summary:
This position reports directly to a Project Manager. Provide technical support to both customers and engineering staff and expertise on projects from bid preparation through final acceptance by the customer. This includes estimating, scheduling, and cost tracking. Resolving issues and discrepancies. Acting as liaison with involved parties such as design personnel, vendors, field forces and customers. Performance of duties requires proficient knowledge of both M Davis and customer policies and standards and strong communicative skills.
Responsibilities:
Technical leadership - Provide technical leadership and support to engineering staff in problem resolution and optimization of electrical design and control systems: managerial responsibility for electrical and controls engineering resources.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
· Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred.
· Minimum of 10 years’ experience in manufacturing controls systems (Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs).
· PLC and HMI Programming experience
· Electrical Process Controls experience
· Understanding of electrical power distribution
· Understanding of NEC / NFPA 70, and UL 508A
· Working knowledge of AutoCAD
· Knowledge, experience, and proficiency with control systems, including:
o An advanced knowledge and experience with PLC, HMI and motion control systems commonly used within industrial manufacturing processes: Rockwell is a must. Wonderware, Siemens, etc.
· Collaborative, hands-on approach to problem identification, resolution development and implementation; proven ability to work across multi-functional teams.
· Ability to understand customer business objectives, including safety and quality requirements, when assisting in developing technical solutions.
· Demonstrates ability to develop, mentor, and train technical and engineering personnel, to improve controls process knowledge and improve capabilities.
· Proactively identifies opportunities to leverage new technologies for process improvement solutions.
Preferred Skills / Attributes:
· Practical knowledge and relevant experience in field construction environment
· Familiarity and experience with manufacturing and/or materials processing.
