Job Summary:
The Director of Dining Services offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, entrepreneurial manager dedicated to optimizing business operations. This pivotal leadership role bears direct responsibility for the effective management of Dining Services, ensuring client and customer satisfaction through efficient and cost-effective practices that consistently surpass expectations. The Director oversees all foodservice-related aspects, encompassing retail, cafeteria, catering, and more, with a focus on care, quality improvement, sanitation, infection control, and client-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise salaried managers and hourly associates within the Food Service Department.
- Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the account.
- Conduct interviews, hire, and train associates; plan, delegate, and oversee tasks; assess performance; administer rewards and disciplinary actions; address complaints and resolve issues.
- Develop and manage the annual budget.
- Utilize company systems to complete necessary daily, weekly, and monthly reports, such as inventory, cash reports, production records, payroll/time-keeping, etc.
- Oversee and actively participate in food and beverage preparation and service, ensuring compliance with company food standards in preparation, presentation, sanitation, safety (adhering to HACCP and OSHA guidelines), and portion control.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or a related field; or an Associate's Degree coupled with four years of directly relevant experience is preferred.
- Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience, including expertise in inventory and purchasing management.
- Strong knowledge of food and catering trends, with an emphasis on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
- Previous experience with P&L accountability or contract-managed services is desirable.
- Demonstrated supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, facilitating effective interaction across various levels, including management, clients, customers, and associates.
- Proficiency in financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills.
- Competence in various computer programs, including Microsoft Office, email, and internet usage.
- ServSafe certification is a plus.
