The Employee Relations Specialist provides consultative services to all managers on a variety of issues related to motivating, coaching, and addressing performance and behavior concerns with their staff members. This position works with managers and employees throughout the Company to address concerns, resolve conflict, develop performance improvement plans, and involuntary terminations of employment, including reviewing and developing appropriate documentation. The Employee Relations Specialist also assists with Unemployment claims management, and functions as back up to Leave Administration.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain positive coaching relationships with managers and employees throughout the organization and provide guidance and support in addressing employee development and disciplinary matters including involuntary terminations. This will involve working with managers on disciplinary matters throughout the organization to promote consistency and working with managers to develop appropriate action plans to address employee behavioral and/or performance deficiencies.
- Independently conduct unbiased investigations, determine findings, and prepare all required documentation. This includes but is not limited to preparing a clear and concise report summarizing findings of the investigation as well as maintaining case management/tracking tools
- Conduct in-person, web-based and phone-based witness interviews. Analyze information collected from witnesses and evidence and reach timely and well-reasoned conclusions. This includes effectively assessing witness credibility and fostering effective communication with all individuals involved in the investigative process
- Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to all issues, and conduct investigations in an unbiased manner
- Interpret and apply understanding of business practices, corporate policies, regulations, federal, state, provincial, and local employment laws to include complex and sensitive employee relations matters.
- Keep supervisor informed of all areas of responsibility
- Keep abreast of industry trends and employment legislation
- Adherence to and support of Company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
- Oversees and manages Unemployment Insurance vendor questions
- Annual review and reporting of UI Vendor performance metrics
- Assists with the designs and coordinates the presentation of ER-related training and development initiatives.
- Collaborate and or create monthly reports are complete, accurate, and delivered on time
- Be available during normal working hours to assist managers over the phone and via email
- Other responsibilities and projects as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 5 years Human Resources experience, specifically in handling employee relations, employee investigations, management training
- Ability to work more than standard 40 hours workweek on as needed basis
- Experience working in the Automotive Dealership world highly desired
- AWI-CH, Association of Workplace Investigator certification or must be able to obtain within one year of employment
- Ability to assess sensitive and complex employee relations issues in a confidential, objective, and systematic manner. Thorough understanding and application of workplace investigations best practices and standards, including conducting neutral fact-finding interviews, navigating key partnerships, credibility assessments, and maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Ability to objectively communicate with employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of equivalent education and experience in HR. PHR or SHRM HR Certifications will be considered in lieu of college degree
- Ability to multitask and prioritize; must have strong organization, time management and follow-up sills leading with a sense of urgency.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local employment law, and regulations.
- Proven ability to make judgment calls and sound ethical decisions displaying a heightened level of responsibility, confidentiality, integrity, compassion, and professionalism.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including verbal and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in running reports out of ADP WFN highly desire

Compensation
- The estimated annual earning range for this position is $85,000.00 - $100,000.00.
Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual compensation offer will consider a wide range of factors to include location, experience, and performance/productivity.
