  • GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES

    The Endoscopy Technician will perform various pre-procedure, in-procedure, and post-procedure tasks to support effective and efficient operations of Portland Gastroenterology Center’s ASC and its functions.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include any or all the following:

    • Endoscopy responsibilities include turning over patient room, scope and accessory cleaning, and stocking of rooms.
    • Maintains current knowledge regarding physical layout of the equipment and supplies.
    • Maintains thorough working knowledge of all equipment.
    • Assists Endoscopy RNs as needed during procedures.
    • Monitors patients’ safety and well-being.
    • Knowledge of location and safe operation of emergency equipment.
    • Special assignments or projects as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited institution preferred, high school diploma or GED required; and
    • One year related experience and/or training preferred; or
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • BLS certification

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

    • Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, handling, kneeling, crouching, and bending.
    • There will be extended periods of sitting required when performing administrative tasks and while attending meetings.
    • There will be extended periods of standing required when performing direct patient care.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The nature of the position may expose the Endoscopy Technician to moderate levels of tension when dealing with issues. The level of tension is usually moderate, with high levels of tension occurring occasionally.

    EMPLOYEE EXPOSURE DETERMINATION – Category A

    Per OSHA Regulations, any employee whose position classification falls into either Category A or B will be offered the Hepatitis B vaccination.
