Director of Construction
Job Summary:
The Director of Construction is responsible for leading Enabled Energy’s (EE) Field Engineering, Construction, and Service teams. This is a leadership role that will drive the successful execution of data center retrofit construction and service projects.

Essential Job Functions
Leadership
- Provide visionary to the construction team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
- Develop and implement the overall construction strategy for data center projects, aligned with the company's business objectives.
- Drive the growth and expansion of the data center construction division.
Cultural Leadership and Talent Management
- Understand and adopt EE’s mission and cultural initiatives described in the attached EE Mission Statement.
- Maintain a culture where service and sales (internal and external) are central to all activities.
- Conduct regular one-on-ones with each direct report to review results and opportunities. Actively coach before, during, and after client projects.
- Ensure the right people are in the right roles. Proactively retain the top producers. Remediate or replace underperformers. Actively recruit new talent.
Project Management and Execution
- Lead a team of project managers, construction managers, field technicians, and service delivery personnel responsible for project delivery across North America.
- Oversee the end-to-end project lifecycle for data center retrofit construction, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Utilize and enhance measurement tools and processes to maintain a high-level of team performance and minimize portfolio risk.
- Lead the profitable delivery of EE’s portfolio of construction projects, product deployments, and service tasks for data center clients. Ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards.
Vendor and Stakeholder Management
- Engage with clients and key stakeholders to understand project requirements, address concerns, and foster long-term partnerships.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with construction contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring the selection of qualified partners for project delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, engineering, operations, and finance, to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with business goals.
Technical Expertise and Quality Assurance
- Provide technical guidance and expertise in data center construction, staying current with industry best practices, codes, regulations, and emerging trends.
- Lead and evolve quality assurance programs to ensure construction activities meet rigorous standards for safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize construction processes, reduce costs, and enhance the quality of deliverables.
Non-essential (marginal) job functions
- Attend company team-building events in person.
- Attend team and client meetings with live video.
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 15 years of commercial construction, engineering, or operations experience, including 10 years in leadership positions and proven field experience.
- Must have experience overseeing commercial projects in the $2M-$10M range.
- Extensive knowledge of data center construction methodologies, infrastructure systems, and industry standards is preferred.
- Active contractor license experience in general contracting or construction trades is preferred.
- Previous P&L responsibility preferred.
- Strong business acumen with experience in strategic planning, budgeting, financial analysis, and contract negotiation.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, executives, and other stakeholders.
- High proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel 25%-40% of the time.
