Energy Representative is responsible for providing energy efficiency advice to customers. Develops, communicates, and monitors programs related to energy efficiency, sustainability, waste management, and environmental impact. Being an Energy Representative develops and distributes educational material; evaluates and recommends alternatives to existing systems or processes. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Additionally, Energy Representative typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be an Energy Representative typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     AECOM's Energy Business Unit houses three specialised practices — nuclear, renewables, and transmission & distribution. Each practice plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy, offering innovative solutions that balance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability. 

    We are looking for energy professionals with varying areas of expertise/experience to join our rapidly expanding renewable energy team. You will be based in our HUB offices within easy reach of either Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Bristol, working to a flexible hybrid approach.

Our teams of energy professionals link up across our global network of offices to provide solutions, designs, and support to clients in multiple technical and deployment areas such as: on and offshore wind power, solar power, hydropower, carbon capture, alternative fuels, hydrogen and, crucially, energy demand assessment and carbon reduction.  With an associated deep commitment to sustainable solutions, we combine our engineering and scientific skills with those of our environmental colleagues to try to achieve equitable and biodiverse outcomes. 

    Job Description

    What your role could entail:

    You will be responsible for undertaking a technical role on projects within our energy business; typically our projects are associated with the generation, storage, transmission and distribution of energy in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

    Candidates with general engineering experience within the energy market would be preferable, however, not critical. Specific areas of experience which would be beneficial include the following.

    • Medium and high voltage grid connection works, including cable routing and specific experience with National Grid.
    • Hydroelectric design – both run of river and pumped storage.
    • Onshore wind – ideally with recent onsite experience, including projects with turbines >180m tip height.
    • Offshore wind.

    Successful candidates will be deployed to work on different projects, depending on their specific area of engineering expertise, and will include providing support for the following types of technologies.

    • On and offshore wind
    • Solar PV
    • Hydroelectric – run of river and pumped storage
    • Grid connection works – cable route and substation civil
    • Hydrogen production and storage
    • Battery energy storage systems (BESS)

    Projects include all stages of design from feasibility to detailed design and site construction supervision. Our clients are a mix between large energy utility generators to private developers.

    Qualifications

    Here’s what we will need from you:

    • Engineering or relevant science or master’s degree.
    • Experience in a position where design was a major part of the role.
    • Experience in the full cycle of project design delivery from inception to detailed design.
    • Chartered or working towards chartership.
