    Job Description Summary

    The Student Wellness and Engagement Coordinator is a jointly managed position that works closely with the Center for Student Mental Health and Well-being (CSMHW) and the Center for Diversity & Inclusion (CDI). This role assists with planning, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-informed health and well-being education programs, as well as playing a key role in promoting students' sense of belonging at Michigan Tech. The coordinator's focus is on educating students on physical health, nutrition, sleep hygiene, social norms, and alcohol & other drug prevention while encouraging the student community to live a healthy, balanced lifestyle. The coordinator fosters collaborative relationships within our campus and the local community to develop and support a prevention-conscious culture.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

    * Plan and promote campus health and well-being initiatives, prevention programming, and events for students to encourage healthy habits and a sense of belonging on campus.
    * Consult with and share information with CSMHW and CDI staff, and other relevant departments/campus organizations regarding events & programming.
    * Collaborate with and assist the Assistant Director of Outreach (CSMHW) and the Assistant Director (CDI) with partnered events related to wellness and sense of belonging, sharing applicable resources and planning programming initiatives that meet overall goals.
    * Promote the BeWell Initiative and the Good Samaritan Provision; develop resources and programming in the areas of health and wellness, reducing substance use, supporting sense of belonging and engagement, and support of underrepresented student groups on campus.
    * Organize, promote and execute health & well-being events such as Husky Hour, Let's Talk, Cookies & Coloring, peer support communities, flu Shot/vaccine clinics, DEA RX Take Back Day, Capture Your Adventure, Husky Eats teaching kitchens and other well-being events as they arise.
    * Collaborate with the President's Council for Health & Well-being to develop, plan and attend AOD related programming and submitting the MIHEN biennial review.
    * Collaborate with the CDI President's Council and other entities to develop, plan, and attend programming to help support individuals in underrepresented minority groups and individuals with marginalized identities.
    * Promote and encourage collaboration with local healthcare providers.
    * Actively engage in creating an inclusive, welcoming, and professional work environment while supervising at least one Student Peer Health Ambassador.
    * Coordinate with CSMHW staff to ensure publications, websites, and involvement link related to managed programming are up to date with relevant and timely information.
    * Assist with collecting program data and other evidence to better understand student needs, student learning, and programmatic formative and summative outcomes and adapt programming based on effectiveness and to ensure alignment with current university trends.

    Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

    * Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health
    Education, Recreation, Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Policy, Human Factors, Business, Marketing or other related fields.

    Required Experience (minimum requirements)

    * Experience in program development, implementation, promotion and
    evaluation (ideally related to health and well-being) or other similar experience.

    Desirable Education and/or Experience

    * Master's degree in Exercise Science, Health
    Education, Recreation, Public Health, Health
    Promotion, Health Policy, or related field.
    * Experience working in higher education.
    * Experience with alcohol and other drug education,
    programming, and assessment.
    * Experience creating and delivering engaging
    presentations for small and large audiences.
    * Health and Wellness Certification in the field or
    specific area (various certifications apply here).
    * Experience Supervising student and professional
    staff.
    * Certification as a NASPA Certified Peer Educator
    Facilitator.
    * Experience writing grant proposals.

    * Experience in using personal computers, email, calendars, word
    processing, spreadsheets, task management and other software.
    * Demonstrated team building, networking, effective communication skills, and conflict resolution skills.
    * Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude.
    * Demonstrated commitment to the enhancement and promotion of diversity and inclusion.
    * Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of constituents.
    * Proven competence in managing multiple tasks and competing priorities.

    Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

    * Student knowledge: knowledge of generational college students and the ability to design generation- and audience-specific programs/events/services.
    * Accountability: experience with applying formative, summative, qualitative, and/or quantitative methodologies to assessing student learning outcomes and/or evaluating programs and services.
    * Branding experience: ability to design brochures, event flyers, and/or newsletters
    * Social media experience: ability to develop and manage social media accounts
    * Reporting experience: experience with program databases or software programs used to track, monitor, and report services to students.
    * Ability to plan and execute programs and services based on social justice, cultural responsiveness, anti-racism, and civility.
