Community Mental Health Center, Inc. is a provider of comprehensive mental health services, offering inpatient, outpatient, home-based, school, and community-based programs to individuals and families in Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley and Switzerland counties in Southeastern Indiana. Position Responsibilities:
The Peer Engagement Specialist will inspire and strengthen the voice of the Youth or Young Adult. They strive to make a difference through education, empowerment, and support. They will advocate for the youth or young adult with other systems. They will advocate for positive change in youth or young adult serving systems, and for the reduction of stigma.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency
- Commitment to Systems of Care philosophy
- Resident of Indiana
- Current or Former recipient of services
- CHW/CRS certified or willing to receive CHW/CRS training required
- COVID vaccine or exemption waiver required
Day-to-Day Expectations:
- Provides consultation to the clinical staff on the youth perspective and attends clinical staff meetings periodically.
- Set agenda for youth support gatherings and secure appropriate space, refreshments, and child care for participants.
- Provide coaching, advocacy, and peer support to youth at: IEP or any other school related meetings, mental health related appointments/meetings, juvenile justice hearings, child and family team meetings, as well as any other identified services needed by the youth.
- Assist youth with finding and connecting with miscellaneous services within the community.
- Provide individual coaching, advocacy and support to meet youth’s needs in obtaining and utilizing services
