Implements and maintains overall engineering objectives and initiatives. Being an Engineering Manager confronts and solves performance/operational issues to improve development efficiency. Leads and develops the engineering team. Additionally, Engineering Manager oversees a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule and on budget. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Typically reports to a director. The Engineering Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Engineering Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     You will manage a small but mighty team of engineers that work on the Trailforks web and mobile app teams. As a leader, your primary role is to put the goals of our customers and business first, drive product & architecture decisions with your product and design counterparts, and help your team reach its maximum potential. You'll work closely with the team and other engineering leaders to set technical strategy and direction.

    What you will do:

    • Help build an awesome product that gets people outdoors
    • Align business goals, technical improvements, and engineering best practices in a quarterly roadmap with your team, peers and stakeholders
    • Identify and contribute to the highest impact areas that align with the roadmap. This could include code reviews, non-critical path code contributions, QA, or development process improvements
    • Hold 1:1s with your team members and manage individual career development
    • Plan and fulfill hiring plans for your teams while partnering with recruiting to screen, source, and close a diverse array of candidates
    • Foster a culture that is high performing, inclusive and equitable

    This describes you:

    • You have 8 years of software engineering experience in web or mobile application development
    • You have experience leading remote and distributed teams across multiple time zones
    • You have excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills
    • You have experience managing long term projects and carving out scope into smaller, logical milestones
    • You thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining work/life balance for yourself and your team
    • You are execution-focused and driven to ship great products for customers
    • You have experience with modern software development and delivery practices


    Nice to have:

    • Professional experience with iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin), Shared business logic (KMM), or PHP
    • An interest in mountain biking or outdoor adventure sports

    Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $135,000 to 170,000. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more.
