This is role oversees and is accountable for all phases of client tax engagements and has responsibility for firm growth. This position requires a CPA license and acts in a leadership role, setting an ethical and technical example for direct reports and colleagues.
Responsibilities- Oversee entire tax engagements from start to finish, including budget, staff, planning, production, first-level or final review, total work quality and profitability
- Hold primary client responsibility, and, in some cases, oversee specific areas of client service
- Complete preparation of more complex tax returns, reviewing easy to medium returns and researching technical issues
- Assist in the business development effort with current clients and prospects to expand the practice
- Concentrate on practice development with both prospective and existing clients
- Develop and lead teams while contributing to the strategic planning and direction of the Tax department
- Learn and keep the firm's expectations for work quality and professional development, as well as the firm's cultural and core values
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required, Master's Degree a plus
- CPA or EA required
- 5 years of public accounting experience
- Experience developing and overseeing/leading the tax preparation workflow
- Strong working knowledge of tax law and other professional standards/regulations
- Experience preparing and reviewing complex returns for S-Corporations, C-Corporations, LLC's, Partnerships, high wealth individuals, consolidated or multi-state returns and nonprofits
- Must be experienced in reviewing 1040's, 1120's and pass through entity returns
- Additional professional designations or certifications showing specialization in areas of taxation preferred
