Env., Health, and Safety Engineer jobs in Meriden, CT

Env., Health, and Safety Engineer implements and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Env., Health, and Safety Engineer is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Env., Health, and Safety Engineer serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be an Env., Health, and Safety Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     We are currently looking for an experienced environmental consultant with experience in Asbestos, Mold, and Lead.
    The ideal candidate will be up to date with licensing requirements, have at least 1 year of experience in the field, know the required equipment, and have a valid driver's license.

    Qualifications:
    Required:
    • Valid Driver's License; 
    • BS in Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental Science. 
    Preferred but not required:
    • At least 1 year of experience in Environmental Science;
    • State of CT Asbestos Inspector License;
    • State of CT Lead Inspector License.

    Responsibilities:
    • Field sampling, monitoring, and inspections at various project locations throughout the state;
    • Site analysis by phase contrast microscopy (PCM);
    • Maintain field sampling logs and notes;
    • Perform asbestos project monitoring work for hazardous building materials;
    • Attend ongoing training courses to ensure up-to-date licensing and keeps records for license renewal and health records;
    • Calibration of equipment including but not limited to, rotameters, microscope, and any other equipment needed;
    • Ability to work as part of a team;
    • Customer Service skills;
    • Available for on-call rotating schedule for emergency jobs.

    Salary is dependent on experience and licensing. We will train and license qualified candidates.
