Job Description
OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced safety training specialist to support the safety-focused training and development needs of all subsidiaries within the Family of Companies. This person will report to the Corporate Safety Training Manager and will assist in designing and delivering safety and operations-focused training and development programs to improve individual skills and organizational performance. This person will assist the Safety Training Manager in analyzing organizational training needs and evaluating training effectiveness.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assess training needs and design, plan, organize and deliver training to address needs and gaps.
- Offer specific training programs to help workers and/or clients maintain or improve job skills, both safety and operational.
- Present information with a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
- Obtain, organize, or develop training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
- Assist in tracking training compliance and providing proof of certification as applicable.
- Utilizing applicable software associated with program, including but not limited to a learning management system (LMS) and design software.
- Monitor, evaluate, or record training activities or program effectiveness.
- Develop alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen.
- Evaluate modes of training delivery, such as in-person or virtual, to optimize training effectiveness, training costs, or environmental impacts.
- Attend meetings or seminars to obtain information for use in training programs or to inform management of training program status.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
•5 years’ experience in safety training required.
•General understanding and working knowledge of marine and environmental/industrial industries.
•Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards, and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory standards.
•Strong communication (both written and verbal), analytical and persuasive skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of clients, employees and management.
•Must be multi-task oriented and have strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills and to manage multiple departmental priorities and requirements.
•Ability to gather data, analyzes issues, generate alternative courses of action; research best practices and make recommendations to overcome organizational obstacles.
•Ability to work in excess of regularly scheduled hours when necessary.
•Ability to travel overnight as required by business needs.
•Valid driver’s license.
