Torch is currently seeking to hire an Environmental Protection Specialist to support Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) G-4 and the Aviation Center Logistic Command (ACLC) Environmental Group at Fort Rucker, AL, and locations under its Fleet Management Expansion (FMX) responsibility.
The qualified candidate assists in executing the monthly Environmental Quality Assurance Surveillance Program (QASP) for the Fort Rucker Aviation Maintenance Activities. Auditing skills include random sampling, inspections, environmental compliance and conformance evaluations, analysis of environmental requirements, providing recommendation to ensure compliance, monitoring Contractor procedures and Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements; provide productive feedback for continual improvement; review and approve requests for new hazardous materials based on technical requirements. This review may include recommendations for "greener" less hazardous materials.
Candidate will conduct process evaluations of aviation and missile weapon system processes to address environmental impacts of material selection, reductions of hazardous waste generation and identify environmental life-cycle improvements
Candidate will review and evaluate Federal, state and Army regulatory actions to identify potential mission impacts, reporting requirements and other impacts to the maintenance contractor.
Candidate will provide written papers, or briefings to convey issues, areas of concern or recommendation for improvement to environmental processes.
Candidate will also provide a communication conduit between the Garrison Environmental office, AMCOM G-4, ACLC and maintenance contractor.
A Bachelor's Degree in a technical/science discipline and five years experience required.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience with auditing, environmental management and compliance is required. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience with LEAN Six Sigma, ISO 14001, RCRA, NEPA, Aerospace NESHAP, SPCC, and waste water requirements a plus.
This position requires that the candidate possess a final security clearance to access classified information. Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
