Salado Isolation Mining Contractors, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our team to support our government customer in Carlsbad, NM.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing solutions for the Environmental Monitoring (EM) Structures, Systems and Components (SSCs) at WIPP. The candidate will become the EM system technical expert; maintain configuration management for their assigned SSCs, specifications, drawings, and other technical baseline documentation; and ensure compliance with the Documented Safety Analysis and Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (HWFP). The candidate will be expected to become the technical expert for EM SSCs and qualify as a System Engineer for WIPP systems as assigned by the Engineering Manager. Provide real-time engineering support during repairs to assigned SSCs. Work closely with the permitting group to ensure that facility changes that affect the HWFP are captured early during the pre-modification planning stage. This position requires the ability to perform field work in varied conditions, including indoors, outdoors, surface, and underground.
Exempt Salary Grade (30-34)
