Environmental, Health and Safety Director oversees organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations. Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times. Being an Environmental, Health and Safety Director ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Additionally, Environmental, Health and Safety Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a unit/department head. The Environmental, Health and Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     What we’re looking for:

     The Environmental, Health, and Safety Director will provide strong leadership in the development and oversight of the organization’s environmental and safety programs.  This position will implement and oversee the EHS programs, strategies, and initiatives within the entire organization and will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards to maintain a world class environmental organization that also fosters a culture of safe work behaviors that keep all our employees, guests, and stakeholders safe from any type of harm

    What You’ll Do:

    • Develop and implement an Environmental, Health, and Safety strategy aligned with the goals of the Company
    • Implement consistent environmental and safety best practices across all locations.
    • Implement and oversee continuous improvement initiatives in the environmental and safety arenas.
    • Gate keeper for all environmental efforts and ongoing compliance.
    • Coordinate company resources and build relationships that ensure the best interests of the company.
    • Management of incident reporting and safety observation systems
    • Ensure full compliance with local, state, federal, and industry specific regulations.
    • Continuously monitor regulatory changes to maintain compliance at all times.
    • Develop and implement health and safety programs in the prevention of injuries, accidents, hazards and emergency procedures
    • Partner with Safety Managers at different locations, facilitating collaboration and best practice procedures
    • Develop and maintain incident reporting and investigation procedures, emergency response plans, and crisis management protocols
    • Manage reporting requirements, including preparing and submitting reports to regulatory authorities and stakeholders.  Ensure the development of training programs and related training records and reports.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and risks.
    • Serves as liaison between the organization and regulatory agencies concerned with environmental control and safe work environments.
    • Establish and maintain vendor relationships
    • Lead Community engagement efforts and communications
    • Develop and support best practice sustainability efforts
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications


    What you’ll need

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in environment, health, and safety, or a related field, required
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certifications preferred
    • Proven experience in safety and/or environmental leadership within a manufacturing environment
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate employees at all levels
    • Strong knowledge of safety best practices and state and federal laws.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • 10 years in an environmental or safety role
    • Strong technical experience and best practice understanding in area of responsibility
    • Strong operational and organizational discipline
    • Strong business acumen
    • Applies consistent and healthy tension to the organization to be high performing
    • Adheres to and supports company culture
    • Builds effective teams including ability to manage people who are more technically competent
    • Ability and credibility to lead.  Must be respected as a leader and instill confidence in the organization
    • Effective communicator to the board room to the operating floor
    • Driven by a vision for the future.  A strategist.
    • Results driven with a proven level of achievement
    • Travel requirements to effectively cover all locations under their authority
    • Must be able to manage remotely

    Pay Transparency: The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $175,000 to $225,000. Other rewards may include annual bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance.
