We are currently seeking an Environmental Planner to support our growing renewable energy and environmental consulting practice in New York State and the Eastern United States. The office location in New York State is flexible (Rochester, Syracuse, Albany).


    The ideal candidate shall be a self-motivated with 8 – 10 years of environmental consulting and permitting experience. The candidate will be involved in many aspects of renewable energy and transmission site development efforts, including feasibility studies, local and state permitting, field investigation and project/contract management. Projects are anticipated to include renewable energy, transmission line projects.


    Responsibilities:

    • Renewable Energy Development Project Management.
    • Environmental planning.
    • Permitting support.
    • Client communications.
    • Report writing.
    • Proposal Preparation and business development.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science or a closely related field 8-10 years of professional consulting experience
    • Candidates shall have excellent communications skills.
    • Prior experience with site development projects associated with utility scale and/or distributed generation solar energy projects in New York State is desirable.
    • Prior FERC experience is a plus.
    • Typical projects include renewable energy projects, electrical infrastructure, and environmental due diligence.
    • The candidate must work well in a team setting and have very good communication skills with clients Proficiency with a variety of computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
    • ArcGIS experience is a plus.
    • Valid driver's license that meets Tetra Tech's insurance requirements is required.
    • A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

    Compensation:

    Salary commensurate with experience.

    Salary Range: $68,000 - $85,000 yr.


    Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
