This position requires relocation to Auburn, Alabama. We'll help with moving expenses! Are you looking for a new, exciting career in veterinary medicine? Whether you're an experienced LVT, a new LVT grad, or even if you are eligible for your Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) certification within the next 6 months, we want you, and we train! The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking candidates for an Equine Inpatient Technician. This position will provide patient care, including physical exams, medication administration (IV, IM, PO, SQ), constant patient monitoring and hygiene, for all patients admitted by equine emergency care, medicine, surgery and theriogenology and all in-house patients. The position emphasis is on horse handling skills and awareness to provide a safe working environment for the clinicians, colleagues, and students in the Equine section at the J. T. Vaughan Large Animal Teaching Hospital. This position will also monitor the welfare of University-owned horses, including those enrolled in research projects. In addition, the individual selected for this position will provide assistance to clinicians with procedures and receiving of emergency cases. This is a monthly rotating overnight shift position:

Minimum Qualifications | Depending upon the combination of education and experience, the selected finalist will be hired into an Equine Inpatient Tech position and assigned levels I, II, or III. Level I: Associate's degree or higher in Animal Science or a related scientific field Level II: Associate's degree or higher in Animal Science or related scientific field plus 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinic environment. Level III: Associate's degree in Animal Science or related scientific field plus 4 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinic environment. Candidates may substitute a second degree in lieu of experience. |

Candidates must meet one of the following: Active license with the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medicine as a Veterinary Technician, OR Have met all requirements to become licensed in the State of Alabama. Licensure must be obtained within 6 months of hire date. |
Desired Qualifications | Prior work in equine veterinary medicine or horse handling experience is desired. |
