Job Purpose

ROMCO Equipment Co., formerly Sierra Machinery Inc., has an immediate opening in our service department for a field service technician with experience in the industrial equipment industry. This position entails performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting industrial compressed air systems. The main responsibility is performing diagnostics determining causes and performing those repairs based on the diagnosis. This position will report directly to the Service Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Travel to customer job sites to troubleshoot and maintain industrial equipment, specifically piston and rotary screw air compressors, various types of air dryers and other air system components
• Perform diagnostics and determine causes for malfunctions on defective air compressor systems
• Provide failure analysis and equipment/system recommendations to improve reliability and/or performance.
• Consult with and advise customers on compressed air equipment needs, maintenance, and repairs
• Technical assistance on equipment start-ups and installations
• Read and comprehend operational manuals, electrical schematics, and parts breakdowns
• Document service and installation activities by completing work orders for each job
• Maintaining service vehicle with proper equipment, tools, and parts to promote efficient, factory approved methods for servicing equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability requirements

• Working knowledge of compressed air systems and associated components
• Knowledge of electrical diagrams and mechanical flow diagrams
• Experience with three phase electrical and plumbing systems (copper, aluminum) is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for industrial equipment
• Able to read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1 years of service work related to industrial equipment (compressed air, HVAC, vacuum etc...)
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be alert and is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Working Conditions and Additional Requirements

This job routinely operates in a field environment. Operating hours are from 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional needs outside standard business hours to accommodate meetings, training and projects. Some travel may be required. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
