The ER Technician prepares patients for physician examination. Provides clinical and administrative support to emergency department staff. Being an ER Technician provides wound care and assists with splints, slings, casts, and crutches. Measures and records vital signs, performs EKGs, and collects lab samples as needed. In addition, ER Technician cleans, inspects, and sets up emergency rooms and equipment. Requires a high school diploma. Requires CPR/BLS Certification. May require EMT or CNA Certification. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Years of experience may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.
