    Work you’ll do

    As a Specialist Master / Manager within our GPS Energy, Climate, and Natural Resources team you will primarily serve public sector entities working on energy issues. Work will consist of the following:

    • Work with government and public sector clients on how to solve to critical energy and electricity sector issues, particularly those related to the energy transition and its impact on the power sector
    • Manage geographically dispersed and technically varied teams working with energy and electricity sector stakeholders, government officials, and the private sector to resolve challenges, create policies, and develop technical solutions
    • Lead electricity, energy and/or water infrastructure projects focused on decarbonization, resiliency, financing, policy development, regulatory reform, service provision, and improved access to capital
    • Display a breadth of knowledge regarding functional and technical issues in the power sector, both domestically and internationally, and communicate and engage high level stakeholders
    • Oversee the development and delivery of written analytical reports, power points, and an excel models that cover technical and engineering subject matter at a high level for a wide variety of audiences
    • Manage day-to-day interactions with clients and internal Deloitte team
    • Display leadership and business judgment in anticipating client/project needs and developing alternative solutions
    • Organize and deliver services on a cross-section of complex projects for multiple clients with large teams
    • Manage resources and budget on client projects
    • Be responsible for project(s) financials including development of financial plans
    • Provide counseling/coaching and oversight for delivery teams and staff producing outputs and deliverables for U.S. government agencies
    • Actively participate in staff recruitment and growth activities and provide input and guidance into the staffing, mentorship, and growth process for team members
    • Lead business development initiatives to grow the climate, energy, and resilience team and the government practice
    • Participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process and draft technical proposals
    • Participate in new business pitches and presentation to public sector clients

    The Team

    The GPS Energy, Climate, and Natural Resources team is part of the broader Supply Chain and Network Operations Portfolio within Deloitte Consulting. The Supply Chain and Network Operations team helps clients transform their value chains into competitive tools for advancing the market and public services.     Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
    • 10 years of relevant consulting or industry experience
    • 4 years in a technical or functional lead role in the electricity, energy, power, or finance sectors
    • Proven experience effectively prioritizing own workload and managing teams to deliver service excellence, on time, on budget, and in scope
    • Demonstrated ability to write clearly, logically, succinctly, persuasively and in a manner that appeals to a wide audience
    • Mastery of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation creation tools, as well as research tools and industry models and software
    • Strong knowledge of energy and power industry policies and best practices.
    • Experience in the power and utilities sector, including with one or more of the following technical areas:
      • generation, transmission, and distribution planning;
      • technologies and approaches to grid modernization;
      • incorporation of variable energy renewable resources and energy storage;
      • cybersecurity
    • Deep knowledge of electricity sector stakeholders, the roles of each entity, and how the system is regulated across different types of market structures.
    • Ability to make decisions quickly and fairly based on the best available evidence
    • Demonstrated ability to support and care for employees as professionals and individuals and uphold Deloitte’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and work-life balance
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
    • Ability to travel up to 25% on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

    Preferred (seeking candidates with any of the below areas of expertise or qualifications): 

    • Advanced degree in engineering, finance, economics, policy, or other relevant fields
    • Experience in system planning and power system modeling as well as experience working with electricity markets and electricity sector stakeholders
    • Knowledge of the following transmission and energy sector modeling software: AURORA, PLEXOS, PROMOD, PSSE, TARA
    • Experience mentoring and coaching others
    • Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
    • Experience managing senior-level client relationships
    • Experience presenting and selling ideas to clients or other decision makers 

    The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $$131,175.00 - $218,62.00
