Estimating Director leads the estimating function and develops standards, procedures, tools, and methodologies to produce cost estimates for technical projects based on work scope, specifications, and proposal or contract requirements. Establishes processes to perform analysis of project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements. Being an Estimating Director incorporates benchmark data, trends, and historical pricing to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations. Develops a workflow and system for scheduling and processing estimate requests and communicating with stakeholders. Additionally, Estimating Director depending on the complexity and type of project, may use different estimating methods, mathematical models, or specialized estimating software tools to generate estimates. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Estimating Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Estimating Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Role Overview

    Support the Transformation Office / Integration Management Office specific to North America as follows;

    • Ensuring business systems deliver accelerated results identified in the annual VCP initiative process
    • Developing and testing value creation initiatives
    • Driving execution of key initiatives
    • Serving as a credible thought partner to the CTO, operations leadership and functional organizational leaders building confidence in the value creation plans

    This role will interact with and support all lines of business with operations in North America.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Partner with the needed functional or operations leadership to serve as the Lead and Project Owner for the following;
      • VCP initiatives included in the North America VCP detail
        • Apply professional project management techniques, build project management tools and methods.
        • Utilize Smartsheet effectively for project management
        • Oversee selection and management of third parties when required to support the VCP.
        • Stay close to the work and quickly intervene when needed. Provide status updates and flag potential risks/escalate concerns to key stakeholders.
      • Ensure VCP initiatives are properly sized for their relative EBITDA impact and provide recommendations and guidance for implementation and realization of benefits to the executing teams
    • Assist with oversight of large acquisitions and associated integration plans/efforts in North America including developing cross-functional specific action plans based on existing integration templates and ensuring achievement of identified synergies. Learn and utilize DealRoom (new system launching in 2024) when and if required to support acquisition activity
    • Provide hands-on execution leadership of strategic initiatives, either through personal project management or the leadership of key partners and service providers
    • Orchestrate root cause analysis of VCP initiatives behind plan and intervene where needed; ensure there is systematic follow up by accountable team members and necessary countermeasures are executed when off target/plan
    • Lead lean events and projects within the region
    • Support the annual scorecard process for the region. This will include target setting for KPIs each year.
    • Work with the global quality team and operations on the corporate quality management systems and processes when required
    • Help ensure financial impact of initiatives are carefully tracked, measured and aligned actively partnering with finance
    • Collaborate and influence internal stakeholders to enable transformation initiatives without direct authority
    • Build effective relationships across the senior team and broader organization.
    • Be a champion of change management
    • Administers company policies in a fair and consistent manner and recommends changes when necessary

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Ten (10) years of management experience in operations
    • Knowledge of products, equipment, processes, business systems, project management and problem solving techniques applicable to DCI and/or the industry
    • Ability to lead, manage and motivate people and ability to train others in the principles of the DCI Way (lean principles), project/change management
    • Ability to persuade and influence all stakeholders and collaborate effectively
    • Excellent creative thinking, communication, planning, organization and P&L skills
    • Must be able to travel up to 50%
