Analyzes project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements. Being a Estimator - Cost uses benchmark data, trends, prior estimates, and historical pricing schedules to generate detailed cost estimates that consist of itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations. Depending on the complexity and type of project, may use different estimating methods, mathematical models, or specialized estimating software tools to generate estimates. Additionally, Estimator - Cost provides guidance and training on estimating best practices. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. The Estimating department implements strategies to achieve sustainable sales and financial results, maintain and grow customer accounts, and pursue profitable growth in pre-engineering buildings and services while evaluating potential projects for profitability and risk management.
The Estimator provides support to the business, builders, architects, and end customers by providing up front product knowledge, pricing, details, and complete estimating and technical support. The Estimator provides regional builders with timely, accurate and optimal structural estimates and pre-order assistance.
Minimum:
• Associate degree or 2-year technical degree and 3 years of progressive experience in estimating design, project management or related field
• In lieu of degree 5 years of experience in Estimating, Project Management, or related discipline
Preferred:
• Leading knowledge of company’s products, processes and building software
