Additionally, Estimator - Cost provides guidance and training on estimating best practices. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. A Cost Estimator in the construction industry plays a critical role in ensuring that construction projects are completed within budget and according to specifications. They must have a strong understanding of construction techniques, project requirements, and local market conditions, as well as the ability to analyze complex construction plans and specifications.
Job Responsibilities -----
Project Level Estimate ---
Prepare and maintain Project Level Estimates through various stages of a project, representing the total project scope.
Design Phase ---
•Prepare order of magnitude conceptual estimates.
•Develop order of magnitude scope with Project Team.
•Prepare preliminary budget and definitive estimates.
•Develop quantity takeoff.
•Obtain material pricing from vendors.
•Develop labor/equipment crew requirements for each work component.
•Estimate productivity for each work component based on previous LIRR experience.
•Develop estimates for comparison to bids received.
Construction Phase ---
Contract Duration ---
The duration of this Contract will be for a period of one (1) year from the Notice to Proceed date, with an option for additional years of extension.
