Estimator - Materials analyzes job requirements and project proposals to estimate amounts and types of raw materials required to complete tasks. Researches and evaluates suppliers to ensure the availability of materials and confirm that materials meet the organization's standards of price and quality. Being an Estimator - Materials may need the ability to use CAD software and interpret technical documents such as blueprints or mechanical drawings. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Estimator - Materials typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Estimator - Materials occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Materials Test Technician II

    Element has an opportunity for a Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team.As a member of the operations team, the Test Technician position performs a variety of routine and non-routine testing assignments within the department assigned and insures timely and accurate test results under direct supervision.  The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares material specimens for testing
    • Performs tests as directed by customer / industry specifications
    • At times operates under the supervision of a more senior test technician and/or a Department Manager
    • Interacts periodically with customers
    • Gathers and records test data
    • Constructs and maintains various test fixtures and other laboratory equipment to ensure proper working order with little supervision

     

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Working knowledge of laboratory safety
    • HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a testing related field
    • Analyzes and compiles testing data from the tests performed
    • Basic understanding of testing concepts
    • Possess computer skills
    • Desired experience / knowledge in the areas of wet chemistry (Ion Chromatography) and microbiology

    Physical Demands:

    • Frequency of required physical force: Minimum (moderate)
    • Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and >50 lbs. on occasion
    • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs periodically
