Ethics & Compliance Training Specialist conducts needs analyses and designs and implements ethics, business conduct and compliance training and development programs. Interfaces with multiple functional groups outside the ethics and compliance office to ensure curriculum content and methods meet legal, regulatory and corporate objectives. Being an Ethics & Compliance Training Specialist participates in the development and implementation of classroom, web-based and other media training programs for all employees designed to promote knowledge of the corporate code of conduct policies, legal and regulatory requirements of the organization's business. Coordinates with and ensures a uniform level of ethics and compliance training among operating units of the corporation. Additionally, Ethics & Compliance Training Specialist coordinates both internal and external resources required by the program. Provides technical expertise, evaluates content and makes recommendation on incorporating all facets of corporate training programs into the business operation. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be an Ethics & Compliance Training Specialist typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     The ideal location for this role is the East Hanover, NJ site but remote work may be possible (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. If associate is remote, all home office expenses and any travel/lodging to specific East Hanover site for periodic live meetings will be at the employee’s expense. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager. This position will require 10-20% travel.

    The Director, Ethics, Risk & Compliance Advisor- Integrated Marketing will be responsible to identify, assess, and support effective management of risks presented by Integrated Marketing strategies for assigned marketing domains areas across all US therapeutic areas (TAs) and products to ensure execution of strategies is in compliance with applicable NPC policies, procedures and CIA requirements. The ERC Integrated Marketing Advisor will clearly identify, assess and articulate risks as part of early concept discussions for novel and complex marketing strategies (e.g. omnichannel engagement, use of dynamic content, social media) and recommend effective risk management when they are implemented. The ideal candidate is passionate about both enabling compliant marketing strategies and ensuring ERC guidance to Integrated Marketing teams is clear and actionable.

    Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Collaborate with Integrated Marketing stakeholders in connection with innovative or complex marketing strategies to identify, assess, and support effective management of risks to ensure execution of such strategies is in compliance with applicable NPC policies, procedures and CIA requirements, whether as part of a pilot to test and validate the strategy or across multiple TAs/products at scale.
    • Provide specialized ERC advice to marketing domains with high and/or emerging risks (e.g. omnichannel engagement, use of dynamic content, social media) to assess risk in early concept discussions, discuss risk with business owners to achieve an aligned understanding, provide clear and actionable ERC advice on how to effectively mitigate such risks upon implementation, evaluate effectiveness of risk mitigation and document key milestones throughout the process.
    • Effectively engage with Integrated Marketing leadership teams for assigned domains to ensure they have a holistic view of ERC risks presented in their strategies (key watch areas, what’s going well, etc.) and collaborate to implement strategies to address key or emerging risks.
    • Proactively monitor evolving US healthcare environment, enforcement trends and compliance programs of other pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies related to assigned marketing domains to identify and share insights within ERC.
    • Be a knowledge expert related to Novartis healthcare compliance policies, procedures and CIA requirements and how they apply to associates’ roles and responsibilities throughout of the US organization.
    • Proactively engage with Ops/Analytics teams supporting assigned Integrated Marketing teams to evaluate data to identify trends and proactively mitigate key and/or emerging risks
    • Develop trusted relationships with associates of all levels in Integrated Marketing teams to promote a SpeakUp culture and collaborate with Integrated Marketing teams to strengthen a positive culture towards compliance and ethical decision making as an integral part of how we reimagine medicine for patients.
    • Engage with Therapeutic Area General Manager and related cross-functional leaders to ensure a holistic view of risks across the strategies leveraged for assigned therapeutic area(s) (key watch areas, what’s going well, etc.) and ensure clear and actional ERC guidance is provided or seamless transition to the appropriate ERC stakeholder.

    This position will require 10-20% travel.

    What you’ll bring to the role:

    • Bachelor's Degree is required in relevant area
    • 8 years in pharmaceutical, medical device or biotech companies; consulting, compliance or legal counseling of pharmaceutical or biotech companies; or combination thereof, including 3 years in or counseling the Marketing function
    • 2 years in compliance, legal or regulatory counseling for pharmaceutical, medical device or biotech companies

    Preferred:
    • MBA or JD

    The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $183,200 and $274,800/year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/22 through 12/31/22, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
