Position will be open until filled.
GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, maintains and sets-up event facilities for clients; oversees event activities and coordinates work of temporary staff.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Required to work in all facilities operated by the Civic Events Department: Convention Center, Coliseum, Paseo Pavilions, Paseo Grounds, Paseo Farmer's Market and River Stage, as well as other locations, as required.
- Work any event hosted at these venues.
- Assist in the set-up of, staging, tables and chairs.
- Mopping, sweep, and overall general clean-up of all facilities before, during, and after events.
- Lift, climb both fixed and portable ladders, and clean stage equipment.
- Assist event organizers and attendees in a responsive, professional and customer-friendly manner.
- Minimal supervision of volunteers, part-time, temporary and seasonal staff.
- Assist in the maintenance of facilities, per the directions of the Civic Events Manager, Assistant Manager and/or any supervisor.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Hours: As needed, mostly nights and weekends.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Previous experience working events preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Reliable transportation required.
Required Knowledge of:
- Must possess good communications and public relations skills.
Required Skill in (Civic Events will provide training on specific equipment):
- Must possess the ability to learn to operate a variety of equipment including, but not limited to, telephone, reproduction equipment, sound, lighting, audio/visual equipment, HVAC, forklift, standard office and other equipment.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Candidate must be physically able to work in extreme weather.
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
