This position is for a Controls Engineer for critical facility support systems at the Harrodsburg site.

    Scope Of Position

    • Provide controls-related subject matter expertise and technical support for operation and maintenance of critical Facility and Asset Protection systems at the Harrodsburg site. Supported systems include:
      • Emergency Power including generators and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATSs)
      • Process Recirculating Water (PRW)
      • Emergency City Water (ECW)
      • Chilled Water System (CHW)
      • Cooling Tower Water System (CTW)
      • Compressed Dry Air (CDA) and Emergency CDA (ECDA)
      • Process Gasses (N2, O2, NG, SNG)
      • Pollution Abatement (PA)
      • Steam System
      • Process Cooling Fan systems (Block Cooling)
    • Manage capital projects related to facility support system upgrades and/or Energy Improvement projects.
    Day To Day Responsibilities

    • Support the site’s operate/maintain personnel with subject matter expertise and active hands-on support for operation and maintenance of all control systems and software related to facility and asset protection support systems.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve controls/electrical-related issues that arise with critical support systems.
    • Lead efforts to identify and resolve obsolescence issues with electrical devices and controls for critical systems.
    • Provide support for Emergency Response Drills involving failure of critical facility support systems.
    • Provide support for critical facility system function tests.
    • Share knowledge, train, and teach operate/maintain personnel regarding electrical and control-related aspects of facility systems.
    • Assist in the development of training materials and deliver training on facility systems.
    • Lead field support teams during the installation and checkout of new technology and designs.
    • Manage electrical contract resources as needed for improvement and repair projects.
    • Support the development and maintenance of thorough design documentation based on governing codes, design standards, and department procedures.
    • Ensure Electrical and Controls drawings are archived properly.
    • Update P&ID documentation for facilities services equipment and backup systems within the plant.
    • Develop and document Preventive Maintenance procedures for electrical/controls aspects of facility support systems.
    • Participate or sometimes lead Six-Sigma DMAIC or DESGN Performance Excellence projects.

    Required Education And Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
    • 2-3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong demonstrated experience with industrial controls, field instrumentation, HMI software, PLC code, and control platforms.
    • Ability to use the scientific method and engineering principles to solve problems thoroughly and effectively
    • Ability to translate engineering solutions to process requirements that deliver and/or improve performance criteria
    • Ability to multitask and prioritize work on an independent basis in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
    • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills

    Desired Skills

    • In depth experience with GE iFix software
    • In depth experience with other similar HMI/SCADA technologies
    • Basic knowledge and capability with electrical AutoCAD
    • Experience in glass manufacturing
    • Good working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, material science)
    • Good working knowledge of manufacturing site utilities (boilers, chillers, compressors, cooling towers)
    • Good working knowledge of power distribution systems
    • Good working knowledge of emergency power systems
    • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt certification
    • Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing techniques
    • Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC / DESGN) methodology

    Soft Skills

    • Organized with good planning and time management skills

    The range for this position is $85,524.00 - $117,596.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
