Facilities Planner plans building or refurbishment projects focused on effectively utilizing spaces and resources to support the organization's physical facility and space needs. Conducts evaluations of current facilities to assess short-term and long-term space needs and produce feasibility studies. Being a Facilities Planner prepares and reviews designs, layout plans, specifications, and standards that comply with building regulations, industry best practices, and organizational requirements. Estimates costs for labor, materials, and services. Additionally, Facilities Planner generates, monitors, and updates project plans and timelines with task details, deliverables, and status updates. Coordinates construction and installation processes and expedites delivery of materials required by projects. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Facilities Planner occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Planner with 3 to 6 years of experience within our Urban Planning and Land Use Entitlements practice to work out of our Orlando, Florida office. Our Planning team collaborates with all aspects of our Community Solutions Group service group and other departments at GAI Consultants. Our planning practice works with public, private, and institutional clients to assist with Land Use Entitlements and Regulatory Planning, Urban Design and Redevelopment, and Community Visioning. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.
The specific duties of this position are focused on assisting in the project coordination of various land use and site planning assignments. This includes (i) reviewing existing land use/entitlements and assisting in preparing land use or plan permit submittal documents, (ii) developing design master plans for a variety of sites and land development typologies, and (iii) working with our project teams to prepare reports and presentations that convey recommendations (iv) participation with client coordination and project management meetings. Secondary duties include participation within our practice of urban and regional planning which may include community Visioning, larger-scale reviews of land use patterns and development scenarios to inform and participate in broader policy recommendations as well as management of project assignments, clients, schedules, and budgets. Travel, which consists of mostly driving in central Florida to municipal client locations is required. (up to15%).
