The Facility Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots and repairs facilities mechanical components and electrical systems in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies. Performs skilled maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other physical structures. Being a Facility Maintenance Technician recommends purchase of maintenance tools, equipment and supplies as required. Develops, maintains and secures a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools. In addition, Facility Maintenance Technician assists engineers in developing methods and procedures to improve facility efficiency and work flow. Oversee and review the work of lower-level technicians. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to supervior or manager. Being a Facility Maintenance Technician works under moderate supervision. Gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Working as a Facility Maintenance Technician typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification. Job Summary: Assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the facility in good repair. Position will require knowledge and skill in a wide range of maintenance fields. Will assist the Engineering Department with plumbing, electrical and HVAC maintenance. Constructs, repairs and maintains wooden structures such as furniture, equipment, partitions and other parts of the hospital buildings, using hand tools and power tools according to written and oral instructions. Assists in the performance of duties necessary to operate and maintain boilers and other auxiliary equipment necessary for producing steam for heat and power of this facility. May be required to respond to security needs of hospital and clinics personnel, patients and visitors. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
