We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks. This role requires a strong understanding of computer networking and hands-on experience with various tools and equipment used in the telecommunications field.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Fiber Installation Technician
I. POSITION SUMMARY
a. Installs fiber and ensures RiverNet customer’s devices are connected
b. FSLA status: Non-Exempt
II. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
a. Reports to: Vice President of Operations and Engineering
b. Supervises: NONE
III. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required. At least 2 years’ installation experience inside and outside the premises is required. A minimum of 1 years’ experience cabling various electronic components (e.g., modems, routers, TVs) required. Proven excellent customer service skills related to installing integrated digital TV, high-speed internet and voice services are required. Advanced computer literacy required, including ability to demonstrate knowledge of current computer operating systems.
Must have ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.
IV. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Completes fiber optic installations for residential/business customers. Complete splicing and installation of fiber drop connections both outside and inside of premise.
b. Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues.

V. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
Must possess the knowledge to identify and understand Fiber Optic Cable and equipment.
Must be able to work with others and work independently.
Understands the concept of providing quality services to our members/subscribers and agrees to maintain a continuing commitment to superior people-to-people service.
B. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crawling, and reaching; use of keyboard/computer; and lifting to 50 pounds.
Requires frequent climbing and work at elevations (e.g. from ladders, poles, lift trucks, etc.)
Requires ability to work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces for prolonged periods of time.
Requires finger dexterity, good vision and ability to differentiate and recognize the full color spectrum, good hearing, ability to speak, and the ability to perform close work. Office equipment used includes personal computers, related software, copy machines, fax machines, etc.
VI. WORKING CONDITIONS:
Regular, predictable attendance is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inclement weather conditions. Close to 100% of the work is done in an outdoor setting or at customers’ premises. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places.
Must be willing to be on call and on standby in relation to the workload. Must be willing to work evening, weekends, holiday, and extended hours as required by workload. Frequent travel across the entire service territory for subscriber installation is required. Occasional travel, including overnight travel, by company vehicle and commercial means is required.
