Field Engineering Manager - Construction supervises on-site technical oversight activities to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineering Manager - Construction enforces quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consults with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineering Manager - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. We are looking for a motivated Engineering Technician to work in our Rochelle, IL, office. The right candidate can be interested in our construction observation, field survey, and/or computer-aided design (CAD) positions. We are interested in talented, trustworthy, and skilled people who are passionate about providing personalized attention to our clients.
What you'll do
Construction Observation: You'll prepare project notes, calculations, and summary sheets following procedures, and create and interpret CAD drawings. You'll support the engineering and environmental functions of the firm. The workweek will exceed 40 hours, especially during construction season.
Field Survey: You will work primarily outside (so it's important you like all types of weather) to collect topographic survey data, set up and maintain project survey control, and complete construction layout and boundary field survey. You'll also help with construction observation to make sure plans are followed. The workweek will exceed 40 hours, especially during construction season.
CAD: You will interpret and create 2D and 3D drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Revit. You'll prepare calculations and summary sheets and manipulate data under established procedures.

What it takes
Construction Observation: An associate degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Architecture Technology or CAD Drafting from a technical college or institution is preferred. Relevant experience may offset the educational requirement. You must have a valid driver's license.
Field Survey: An associate degree in Survey Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or Construction Technology is a plus, but it is not required. A valid driver's license is required. We're looking for someone with some professional experience, but if you are a recent grad, eager to learn, and motivated, we are interested.
CAD: An associate degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Architecture Technology or CAD Drafting from a technical college or institution is preferred. Relevant experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and or Revit in a similar operation may offset the educational requirement.
