Field Engineering Manager - Construction supervises on-site technical oversight activities to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineering Manager - Construction enforces quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consults with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineering Manager - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Procures and coordinates any additional resources required to support field engineering activities. Attends project meetings to provide technical input and recommend improving construction processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Field Engineering Manager - Construction supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Field Engineering Manager - Construction typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. This position provides leadership in the organization and management activities that establish the direction of the Field Engineering team working closely with construction and contractors. The position will require the organization of field engineering employees, clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, or compliance programs with knowledge from experience and expertise gained to perform the job duties and responsibilities listed below. Principal Job Duties & Responsibilities: • Supervise Field Engineering, and Document Management teams. • Provide technical support to construction and the site quality program; ensure all technical aspects of construction are satisfied • Responsible for the compliance and safe practices of Field Engineering staff. • Execute the Field Engineering program, including the exchange of engineering information between the client, design engineer, and company project team; ensure effective communication and the addressing and tracking of needs, requirements, and issues • Coordinate the preparation and revision of technical work procedures consistent with project design and construction requirements, including the construction engineering section of the Project Procedures Manual • Provide technical support of contracts. • Interpret the intent and requirements of the design documents; ensure design drawings are reviewed for completeness and constructability; and ensure drawings are marked-up and information provided as required for the preparation of as-built drawings • Coordinate, obtain, and provide responses to Requests for Information (RFI) as required • Maintain liaison with the company’s home office to provide the technical and construction engineering expertise required to support the project • Provide technical evaluation of bid proposals • Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement appropriate course of action • Organize and prioritize a variety of complex projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines • Manage the Site Hydro Testing Program. • Manage all required Engineering walk-downs. • Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, codes, procedures, and global standards • Manage design solutions for in field modifications• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and fifteen (15) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements; • Previous Fluor experience is a asset; • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner• Professional registration and active participation in technical society • Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials • Advanced knowledge of equipment through all stages of a project from conceptual phase to design development, construction, and commissioning • Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting • Managing and leading a large project • Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out • Practical field experience • Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
