The Field Operations Manager is responsible for managing, safety, job quality, and job cost, including labor and material in the field per assigned contract maintenance and snow removal contracts. In addition, Field Operations Managers must develop the various team members who report to them. Success in this position is indicated by the number of jobs in which contracts are renewed, jobs completed in the budgeted hours, and the retention of Crew Leaders and Crew Members. This position must cooperate with all other management positions to see that the overall goals of the branch are met.
Primary Responsibilities:
Team Member Safety
· Crews compliant with Visterra Safety Program
· Crew Training for seasonal services
· Maintain assigned vehicles and equipment in good working order and cleanliness.
Coach/Teach/Mentor Crew Leaders/Crew Members
· Develop a clear understanding of the philosophies by which the company operates, the short- and long-term goals of the branch, and the financial position of the branch.
· Demonstrated skill and ability to manage others at other levels and to work with sub-contractors/vendors
· Identify Crew Leaders strengths, and areas of improvement to empower them to learn and grow within the company philosophy.
· Get to know all teammates and set expectations and goals and monitor their progress through timely formal and informal evaluations.
· Provide clear instructions and leadership with all team members, primarily with the Crew Leaders, and hold team members accountable.
· Be an active part of the training process by attending or conducting certification training sessions regularly.
· Cross-train when applicable to provide better bench strength and sustainable growth.
Maximize Efficiency on the Job Sites
· Develop a good relationship with the client on every job, understand their needs, and provide solutions to the Branch Operations Manager and team
· Provide field data on team performance and strategize with Branch Operations Manager
· As a Strategic Business Partner of the Branch Operations Manager, develop a clear understanding of hourly and cost budgets for each job and monitor by reviewing job hours, reports, and job costs regularly and acting when needed.
· Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and management of the branch to meet the budget.
· Plan, schedule, and supervise daily production activities on assigned contracts.
· Communicate budget hours to Crew Leaders and Crew Members.
Job Site Quality
· Monitor quality of work and be proactive in communicating job site performance to the Branch Operations Manager and Account Managers through end-of-day summary email.
Snow Operations:
· Coordinates snow operations in conjunction with Branch Operations Manager/Branch Manager by creating a proactive approach to all season’s workloads including budgets, schedules, training, crew coordination, and communication.
· Actively participates in the snow program throughout the season.

Required Skills & Abilities
· At least 2 years managing crew members and crew leaders
· At least one year of experience, ideally in the landscape industry, performing Commercial contract maintenance work, or related industry experience. Certifications can substitute for a non-related degree.
· 2 to 4 years of experience working in horticulture or related experience.
· Valid driver's license with a clean record over the last three years that meets our company policy
· Ability to identify and diagnose insect and disease problems and schedule appropriate treatment.
· Working knowledge of vehicles and equipment used in contract maintenance and snow removal.
· Other duties as assigned.
