Additionally, File Clerk, Sr. typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The File Clerk, Sr. gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Works under moderate supervision. The person in this position is responsible for scanning documents in patients charts on a daily basis; opening, closing and maintaining records; ensuring all required documentation is scanned into constraints; maintaining the security of the medical records; must be familiar with HIPPA rules governing the receipt and disclosure of protected health information. Oversees the medical records departments in the absence of the supervisor; general clerical duties and other duties assigned.
