Financial Aid Director - Higher Ed. manages and administers all aspects of student financial aid program. Senior Financial Aid Advisor

  • Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
    Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three years of full-time experience in a Financial Aid Office. Demonstrated experience in interacting with students and their families. Proficiency in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software for large organizations. Strong customer service skills. Experience in presenting, training, and/or conducting workshops.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Supervisory experience. Seven to ten years of progressive experience working with Federal Student Aid and Scholarship programs. NASFAA Credentials. Certified Financial Aid Administrator (FAAC) designation. Experience with PeopleSoft as a Financial Aid Management System within a higher education institution.

    Brief Description of Duties:
    We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Senior Financial Aid Advisor to join our team. The Senior Advisor will play a crucial role in supporting our mission by advising students on financial aid options, implementing and maintaining policies and procedures, and engaging in outreach activities to ensure students are aware of available resources.

    Duties:

    • Student Advising:
      • Provide comprehensive financial aid counseling to students and families, including assistance with completing applications, understanding eligibility criteria, and exploring alternative funding sources.
      • Providing efficient and courteous assistance to students, parents, and other stakeholders regarding financial aid inquiries, applications, and eligibility.
      • Offer guidance on budgeting, debt management, and financial literacy to empower students to make informed decisions about their education financing.
      • Provide valuable advice and guidance to students and their families regarding financial aid policies, procedures, and responsible financial decision-making.
      • Assist students navigate the complex world of financial aid, empowering them to make informed choices that align with their educational goals and financial circumstances.
      • Assist the Associate Director with a comprehensive office-wide training and customer service program that addresses the needs of all staff members.
      • Direct the review and processing of special and unusual circumstances that may impact a student's ability to pay school.
    • Supervision:
      • Supervise a team of SL-2 Financial Aid Assistants in the area of financial aid advising and customer service.
      • Assess the skills, capabilities, and overall performance of the team members within the financial aid office.
      • Provide constructive feedback, identify areas for improvement, and recognize exemplary performance.
      • Foster a positive and productive work environment, where employees are encouraged to grow professionally and are rewarded for their dedication and hard work.
      • Encourage and support staff members' participation in external workshops, conferences, and industry events related to financial aid and higher education. These opportunities enhance their knowledge and bring innovative ideas back to the office.
      • Develop a comprehensive training program for student peer advisors. Identify key areas of knowledge and skills they need to effectively assist their peers with financial aid inquiries and applications.
    • Policy and Procedure Management:
      • Develop, implement, and update financial aid policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
      • Continuously monitoring and staying informed about changes and updates to federal and state financial aid regulations.
      • Monitor changes in financial aid regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and optimize service delivery.
      • Collaborate with relevant departments to streamline processes and enhance efficiency in financial aid administration.
    • Outreach and Education:
      • Plan and execute outreach initiatives to increase awareness of financial aid programs and resources among current and prospective students.
      • Conduct workshops, seminars, and informational sessions to educate students, parents, and staff about financial aid options, application procedures, and financial literacy topics.
      • Foster partnerships with community organizations, high schools, and other stakeholders to expand access to financial aid information and support services.
    • Data Analysis and Reporting:
      • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to financial aid disbursement, student demographics, and program effectiveness.
      • Generate reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators, identify trends, and inform decision-making processes.
    • Team Collaboration:
      • Collaborate closely with other members of the financial aid team and cross-functional departments to ensure seamless service delivery and holistic student support.
      • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in financial aid administration.
    • Conduct financial aid workshops and orientations virtually and in-person as needed.
    • Perform strategic outreach to ensure student response and timely submission of financial aid documents.
    • Participate in financial aid appeal processes and attend professional conferences, workshops, and symposiums to stay updated in the field.
    • Serve as a liaison with departments, schools, and/or colleges as needed.
    • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.

    Special Notes:
    This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

    In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,087 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
