The Business Financial Counselor provides benefits education to patients, parents and guarantor. Effectively communicates insurance claims or patients self-pay responsibilities to the patient on the unit and at discharge. Requests upfront collection of self-pay deposits from patients both inpatient and outpatient. The position is responsible for maintain the upfront log for all patients admitted to the hospital and monitors the self-pay balance from the time a patient enters the hospital until the balance is zero. The Financial Counselor will complete timely and effective payment arrangements and verify/ confirm patients demographic information prior to or upon discharge whenever possible. They will also audit and prepare account for bad debt, perform routine contact with insurance carriers and other provider regarding denials, refunds, etc. to maintain accurate AR. Performs various other duties as assigned by the Business Office Director and/ or Administration.
