Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Director confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in internal and external financial statements. Advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting. Additionally, Financial Reporting Director may serve as a liaison with or oversee the work of external auditors. May direct the preparation of materials for board or shareholders. Requires a bachelor's degree of Accounting or Finance. Typically reports to top management. The Financial Reporting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Financial Reporting Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     At the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) we pride ourselves on how well we care for our members and business partners around the world. Finance is an integral part of every organization, and we fully recognize that fact. As a 501c organization and to support our external mission, there are a lot of moving pieces to keep our accounting processes running smoothly. AQHA is currently looking for an organized leader to fill the role of Financial Reporting Manager within our Finance department.
    Position Summary:
    The Financial Reporting Manager will focus on supporting the timely and accurate presentation of AQHA financial results and ongoing financial planning and analysis.
    What are we looking for:
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate analytic findings as relevant across a variety of departments and positions.
    • Sound understanding of GAAP for financial presentation with 3-5 years’ experience while understanding the application toward Nonprofit Organizations.
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
    • Experienced in Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel.
    • Ability and desire to become proficient in new software programs to become a resource to operational users.
    Responsibilities:
    • Develop, maintain, analyze, and distribute financial reports, dashboards, and other information at the enterprise, department, and other levels to support AQHA’s ongoing operations. Work directly with department heads and their delegates to help provide timely and accurate information and support for decision making.
    • Present results and analysis to managers and executive leadership where needed.
    • Develop proficiency with Workday, AQHA’s cloud-based ERP, specifically in financial reporting, dashboarding, and analyzing results.
    • Correspond with each department at-least monthly on financial results to ensure financial reporting to AQHA leadership is accurate and timely. Help make corrections to the general ledger when needed.
    • Work with the accounting and finance team to continue enhancing the Workday environment, especially as it relates to the general ledger.
    • Assist with the monthly reconciliation of the AQHA balance sheet.
    • Assist with audit requests during AQHA’s annual financial statements audit.
    • Assist with annual budgeting by working with the Financial Planning and Analysis Director as needed.
    • Contribute to the ongoing development of AQHA’s data warehouse for operational analytics.
    • Other tasks related to the recording, analysis, and presentation of AQHA’s financial results.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Full-time position available.
    • Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm.
    • This position is on-site only at our headquarters in Amarillo, Texas.
