Financial Reporting Director directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. Being a Financial Reporting Director confirms that entries, transactions, and accounts are accurately and properly consolidated and are included in internal and external financial statements. Advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting.     Position Overview:

    This position reports directly to the CFO and directs and oversees the timely preparation and distribution of all periodic financial statements for external use, ensuring compliance with Company regulations, professional standards and SEC and US GAAP reporting guidelines. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that all financial information is accurate and timely and will be responsible for maintaining and improving upon the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting necessary to accomplish this. In addition to the preparation of required SEC filings, including, but not limited to, the Form 10-K, Form 10-Q and current reports on Form 8-K, this individual will be responsible for coordination with internal and external stakeholders involved in collection and monitoring of this required reporting information. The Director of Technical Accounting and Reporting will work closely with the management and accounting teams to monitor Company activities and ensure that transactions and activities are assessed for proper accounting treatment in accordance with US GAAP and reported in an accurate and timely manner.

    Essential Functions: 

    • Planning, directing and coordinating all aspects of the financial reporting process including preparing and communicating required timelines to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate reporting of consolidated business results
    • Supporting the preparation and presentation of complete and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated and regional financial reports, including analysis and explanation of financial results.
    • Coordinating activities of external auditors, internal accounting staff, the Audit Committee/Board of Directors and other internal and external stakeholders involved in SEC and other regulatory reporting processes.
    • Preparing white papers and accounting memos and coordinating with technical accounting specialists to support proper interpretation and implementation of accounting guidance under US GAAP and SEC reporting for all complex and/or non-routine Company transactions and activities.
    • Understanding and monitoring ongoing Company operations and activities to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and timely reporting and to assist operational management in its understanding of the potential impact of transactions or contracts on the Company’s financial statements. 
    • Developing, implementing and maintaining internal controls and department policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with SEC and industry standards and to improve the department’s ability to support operational needs.
    • Interpreting financial data to identify trends and potential problems that may affect the Company’s financial performance.
    • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance and stockholder reporting.
    • Other responsibilities as required.

    Qualifications


    Formal Education / Training

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or related field, required
    • CPA designation required

    Experience

    • Minimum of 8 years related experience
    • Experience in a publicly traded company environment required;  strong public accounting experience may be considered in lieu of public company experience

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Demonstrated experience with US GAAP accounting required
    • Experience establishing accounting processes for and a firm understanding of internal controls, SOX and SEC compliance required
    • Experience with ERP preferred
    • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Strong communication skills and ability to link business issues, accounting concepts, financial results and strategy
    • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
    • Strong work ethic and willingness to work in dynamic team setting
    • Experience in manufacturing or life sciences industry and/or in public accounting is preferred
