This position supports financial and reporting services for the Maine Agricultural and Forest Experiment Station and provides day to day financial management for the college research farms. As UMaine’s largest research center, the station supports faculty members who use cutting-edge tools to address emerging and longstanding challenges in agriculture and food sciences, forestry and wood products, fisheries and aquaculture, wildlife, outdoor recreation, and rural economic development. The station maintains offices and research laboratories including the Littlefield Garden and Roger Clapp Greenhouse on the University of Maine campus and off-campus research facilities including Highmoor Farm in Monmouth, Blueberry Hill Farm in Jonesboro, Aroostook Farm in Presque Isle, and the J.F. Witter Teaching and Research Center and Demeritt Forest in Orono and Old Town. In addition to university funding the Maine Experiment Station receives annually appropriated capacity grants with unique compliance and reporting requirements. The station budget is approximately $10 million with station faculty bringing in significant additional extramural funding to support their research. This position will report to the Manager of Finance & Reporting for MAFES. The position will work closely with the farm superintendents and staff in the dean’s office to ensure that all reporting, compliance and financial needs are met. Typical hiring range for this position is $42,000 to $45,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.
