Financial Systems Analyst jobs in Duluth, MN

Cleveland-Cliffs has and immediate opportunity for a Financial Analyst at our Minorca Mine. This role is responsible for providing assistance with budgeting and forecasting, capital procurement, cost management, cost of quality, financial planning, and organizational support.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Coordinate the development of budget data and prepare detailed support for line items.
• Develop and review preliminary/historical comparison reports; develop forecast models and maintain current estimate data.
• Present departmental budget data with historical comparisons to Senior Mine Management.
• Develop models of departmental estimates for production statistics, spending, rates and usage.
• Prepare month-end analysis comparing actual statistical and cost performance to budget.
• Review significant variances from budget with Section Managers.
• Minnesota Sales & Use Tax filing and payments.
• Prepare month-end journal entries.
• Complete general ledger account reconciliations.
• Track and monitor Construction-in-Process spending and capitalize when project is complete.
• Provide support and fill in for site Accounting Manager as needed.
• Provide ad hoc analysis as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 1-2 years accounting experience including either public accounting and/or private accounting. 
• Possess a thorough understanding of accounting principles and analytical skills.
• High level of computer skills especially in Excel. 
• Ability to prepare own reports and present to senior management.
• Excellent communication skills.  Ability to perform public speaking duties.
• Willingness to grow personally and professionally.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm, honesty, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Have strong interpersonal skills with collaborative style of solving problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Consolidation accounting experience
• Skills in Hyperion, Microsoft Access, and Business Objects
• Mining or Heavy Construction experience is preferred
