Position Title: Underwriter – Housing Production Unit

Organization: New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA)

Role Summary:
The DCA seeks experienced, mission-driven professionals to serve as Underwriters in the Housing Production Unit. The role focuses on underwriting and providing technical assistance for affordable housing projects to achieve the department's housing production goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite project applications for affordable housing projects financed through DCA-administered state and federal funds, adhering to DCA underwriting standards.
• Manage an assigned portfolio of loans and grants from application to closeout, including:
• Conducting site visits.
• Timely review of financial statements.
• Reviewing and approving disbursement/funding requests.
• Monitoring compliance and processing modifications or extension requests.
• Perform administrative and analytical duties related to housing and community development programs for low- and moderate-income families, including evaluating projects against real estate financial underwriting standards and processes.
• Review and rank grant applications based on selection criteria established for relevant programs.
• Provide technical assistance to resolve issues during the development process until project completion and closeout.
• Audit and evaluate grantee compliance with program regulations.
• Evaluate grant applications and monitor contract compliance.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $29.99 - $30.00 per hour
