Fire Inspector jobs in Boston, MA

Fire Inspector conducts inspections of new and existing buildings to ensure compliance with fire and safety codes. Prepares reports and issues violation documents. Being a Fire Inspector documents and defines actions needed to resolve non-compliance situations. Conducts fire investigations. Additionally, Fire Inspector has extensive knowledge of codes, ordinances, construction materials, and alarm systems. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science or equivalent. Has completed fire inspection training and may require the Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI) credential and applicable State License. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Fire Inspector is capable of working on complex problems and exceptions without direct supervision. Has a wide and comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of the job. Our success throughout New England has created a need for a Fire Sprinkler Inspector to work out of our Needham, Massachusetts Office.

     

    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Perform installation, service, and/or inspection work on wet, dry, and pre-action sprinkler systems, identifying code issues and non-conformance issues.
    • Laying out, assembling, installing, maintaining, and servicing fire sprinkler systems in commercial buildings throughout New England
    • Being a positive and professional representative of Encore while dealing with customers, directly and indirectly
    • Ability to work on call rotation.
    • Must have the ability to work alone.

     

    Requirements:

    • Journeymen's license preferred (Apprentices with experience should apply too!)
    • Must be able to work at heights and lift at least 50lbs.
    • Must have valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the state of Massachusetts.
    • Must be able to pass a drug screen/background check as condition of employment

    Candidates should have interest in construction industry and may possess experience reading blueprints, using hand tools and operating machinery.
