    • Ability to work out of any Consumers Energy Service Centers which you can look up online. From a service center as a home office they would then be asked to travel to various sites for new fire systems or modifications of existing systems.
    • Fire Protection Engineers are responsible for ensuring that building and other structures are safe from fire. They commonly work with architects, contractors, and building owners to design and implement fire safety systems such as sprinklers, alarms, and emergency exits. Fire protection engineers may also be involved in the development of new technologies related to fire safety systems.
    • Develop fire prevention techniques such as overhauling building codes or developing fire safety regulations. Design fire protection systems for new and existing building, in compliance with local codes and regulations.
    • Review plans to determine feasibility of fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems and alarms. Perform site visits to assess the need for fire safety system upgrades or modifications
    • Perform investigations after fires to determine their course and origin.
    • Recommending updates to current fire protection system as needed such as additional smoke detectors. Develop and maintain fire protection standards to be used by sites to protect propertly. Educate and coach sites on those standards
    • Assist in the development of building code requirements related to fire protection
    • Visit sites to asses their fire protection measures and compliance with company standards. Mitigation of fire damage by proper design, construction arrangement, and use of building materials, structures industrial processes and transportation systems

    Knowledge of FERC safety requirements and regulations

    Qualifications:

    Design - Responsible for designing fire protection systems for new and existing buildings in compliance with regulations codes. This could be fire safety systems, alarms, and emergency exits.

    Codes - Development of systems that meet codes and regulations.

    Evaluation - They will review existing plans, review future plans, and perform site visits to assess the needs for fire system upgrades or modifications.

    Fire Protection Systems - MUST have experience developing fire safety systems.
