Fitness Instructor coordinates all fitness programs for a facility. Organizes and instructs exercise classes for all fitness levels. Being a Fitness Instructor ensures that all participants are properly trained on the use of the facility's exercise equipment. Responsible for making sure that the exercise area and equipment are safe and clean. Additionally, Fitness Instructor may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor. To be a Fitness Instructor typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Preferred Certifications - Personal Training Cert, Nutritionist Cert, Silver Sneakers, Zumba, Yoga, Boot Camp, and related certifications.
Duties:
- Lead fitness classes such as Boot Camp, Silver Sneakers, Zumba, etc.
- Develop and implement effective workout routines that cater to the needs and abilities of participants.
- Provide proper instruction on exercise techniques and ensure participants are using correct form.
- Motivate and inspire participants to reach their fitness goals
- Offer modifications and variations of exercises to accommodate different fitness levels
- Monitor participants' progress and provide feedback and encouragement
- Maintain a clean and safe workout environment
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and continuously expand knowledge in fitness training techniques
- Assist with fitness sales by promoting classes and membership packages
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Fitness Instructor or related role
- Strong knowledge of body mechanics, anatomy, and exercise physiology
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively instruct and motivate participants
- Certification in Personal Training and/or group fitness instruction or specialized training.
- Proven ability to educate and inspire individuals to achieve their fitness goals
- Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with participants
- Ability to adapt workouts for various fitness levels and modify exercises as needed
