The Fixture Builder ensures jigs function appropriately with complex angles or contours. Assembles a variety of standard and non-standard major jigs, fixtures and related tooling. Being a Fixture Builder designs and creates jig and fixture details and holding devices. Responsible for determining methods and sequence of operations and scheduling work to be performed from tool design drawings. In addition, Fixture Builder may be required to verify accuracy and quality in accordance with established control procedures. Requires a high school diploma in a related area with certification in the field. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Working as a Fixture Builder typically requires 3-5 years of related experience. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The work environment includes construction sites where temperature, weather and noise may vary; may encounter electrical, dust, poor ventilation, dangerous machinery and moving objects.
