This position is located at the RTS Operations Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

This position may be eligible for a situational-based telecommuting work schedule, it is not a remote work position.

Essential Functions

• Support the Software Engineering Department by installing, maintaining, monitoring multiple database servers on physical and virtual platforms in support of RTS initiatives. 
• Perform the installation, patching, and monitoring of database servers on Red Hat Linux Enterprise systems; continuously review and implement best practices for installation, maintenance, optimizing, and database backup plans. 
• Maintain a secure computing environment including but not limited to: applying quarterly Oracle patches; analyzing and/or remediating open DISA Database STIG findings within the Oracle, MySQL, or MariaDB enclaves.
• Provide clear documentation of the database setup and architecture; write procedures for backup and disaster recovery.
• Attend internal Software Issue Review Boards (IRBs). 
• Other relevant duties as assigned.

 Required Skills

• Demonstrated ability to effectively work with Oracle DB, MySQL, and Linux Operating Systems.
• Familiar with Oracle RMAN / Oracle Wallet. 
• Strong efficiency, analytical, troubleshooting, debugging, and problem solving skills related to Database Administration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
• Ability to work within a dynamic, fast paced environment with time constraints.
• Ability to work closely with Software Engineering Manager to accomplish goals related to Database Administration.
• Ability to work within core hours of operations.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related Engineering or STEM discipline.
• Two (2) or more years’ experience in an Information Technology and Software Engineering environment.
• Obtain a Security , CySA , GICSP, or similar certification meeting DoD 8140.01 / DoD 8570.01 baseline certification for IAT Level II prior to employment start date and maintain certification thereafter.
• Obtain a CE (Computer Environment) Linux , Server , or similar certification meeting DoD 8140.01/ DoD 8570.01 baseline certification for IAT Level II prior to employment start date and maintain certification thereafter.
• Obtain an Oracle Certified Professional certification within twelve (12) months of employment start date and maintain certification thereafter.

 Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
