Engineer Specialist
As an integral part of the engineering team, a member of the test and analysis team will support all aspects of Piney Flats operations and airworthiness certification, which involves new and customized design, various analyses, testing, installation, operation, product support and maintenance of aircraft customizing through Major Alterations and new product development through STC certification projects, manufacturing/MRB support at Aeronautical Accessories while also providing innovative aftermarket engineering solutions and certification support across the business. This role is dynamic and requires high technical competency across the air vehicle to substantiate the integrity of kit accessories and systems installations on Bell aircraft.
What You’ll Be Doing As An Engineer Specialist
- Review new and revised designs to identify and address any part or installation concerns.
- Utilize existing and create new analytical tools in various software (Mathcad, SolidWorks FEA, Inventor Nastran, MSC Patran/Nastran, ALTAIR Hypermesh, Excel, etc.) to support analyses.
- Provide structural, mechanical, electrical and/or flight test engineering, design, and analysis support for new and revised products/projects for AA Kits and Customizing/Aircraft completions.
- Manage STC Certification projects from Initial Brief through Statement of Completion.
- Write Certification Plans / Compliance Checklists / Conformity Inspection Plans.
- Write Test Plans/Reports and provide engineering support to various component, ground and flight testing performed at Piney Flats or other locations.
- Perform and/or coordinate EFUM activities to review/approve data in support of various certification projects, service documents or for miscellaneous SME support.
- Perform analyses at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation and maintenance (Structural Substantiations, Fatigue Evaluations, Dynamic Analysis, Electrical Loads Analysis, System Safety/FHA Assessments, etc.)
Skills You Bring To this Role
- Experience with FAA/Foreign Civil Aviation Regulatory Requirements.
- Technical Project Management experience preferred.
- EFUM preferred or has the capability to pursue EFUM delegation in Structures, Systems & Equipment Mechanical, Systems & Equipment Electrical, or Flight Test Analyst.
What You Need To Be Successful
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or similar Engineering degree.
- 6 years of experience with aircraft design / analysis.
- 3 years of experience supporting commercial programs / aircraft certification projects and/or working in an Organization Designation Authorization (ODA) environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to wear hearing and eye protection equipment.
- Required to kneel, squat, stand, sit, and carry throughout the day.
- Must be on feet for duration of shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs on a regular basis.
