Main Function of the Director of Nursing:
Under the administrative direction of the VP of Health Services and the clinical guidance of the Medical Director, incumbent is responsible for the overall operation of the Inpatient Nursing Departments known as Hallowell, Douglass, Tubman, Taylor and Darlington. Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates the nursing team, and coordinates the nursing services of sub-acute rehabilitation, comprehensive care, and assisted living services.

Essential Duties:
1. Complies with federal, state, and local regulations and standards for operating a comprehensive care community.
2. Assumes responsibility for the development, organization, and implementation of approved health services policies and procedures.
3. Directs and organizes required Medicare and Medicaid assessments and related documentation.
4. Prepares and submits for approval the Nursing Service budget.
5. Administers the implementation of the nursing budget (departments 54 and 70).
6. Maintains a program of nursing education for in-service training and on-the-job training for staff.
7. Oversees the purchasing of supplies and materials and maintenance of inventory levels.
8. Assures maintenance of adequate nursing records for clerical, educational, and administrative use.
9. Keeps informed of new developments in geriatric nursing professions.
10. Attempts to integrate the nursing function with the overall mission of Broadmead.
11. Supports the Infection Prevention(s) and the Infection Prevention Committee.
12. Performs additional projects as assigned. Accountable for promoting internal customer service.
13. Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
14. Be present during night and weekend shifts at least twice per month.
15. Perform other related duties as required.
