Registered Professional Forester

Forester: FCO is seeking an experienced Registered Professional Forester (RPF) to join our team of 24 natural resource professionals with offices in Grass Valley and Nevada City, CA. Forester’s Co-Op is a sustained yield technologically advanced forest resource management company servicing client needs throughout the West Coast. We offer clients market driven sustainable solutions to complex forestry, renewable energy, vegetation management and fire wise community development challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Proficient working knowledge of Cal Fire Timber Harvest and CEQA/NEPA environmental permitting related regulations and permits necessary for timber harvesting, vegetation management and development projects on defined timberland throughout California.
• · THP/NTMP preparation, field layout to achieve Cal Fire regulatory approval.
• · Submittal and management of Cal Fire’s Utility ROW and Wood Management Exemptions
• · Implementation of client forest restoration services to include; preparation of Comprehensive site Reforestation Plans, post fire vegetation management consultation, herbicide application, mechanical site prep supervision & implementation, supervision of site reforestation implementation from successful seedling acquisition, cold storage, planting QA/QC and scheduling of post planting forest plantation management practices to assure tree survival and to promote healthy seedling growth.
• Field Implementation through completion of USFS – IDIQ Forestry Contract Services Task Orders for Timber Sale Prep. Work
• Ensure timber operations & tree work is conducted in accordance with OSHA, ANSI Z133, and client safety programs.
• Client log sale administration
• Additional duties include managing staff foresters to implement utility or traditional forestry field work such as plan layout, timber marking, GPS collection, timber cruising, vegetation control applications and much more.

Working Conditions:

• Planned travel to client’s timberland through our California is required
• Ability to work in inclement weather and harsh field conditions for extended periods of time.
• Field working conditions consist of forested mountainous terrain on both public and private timberlands

Compensation and Benefits:

FCO offers a competitive starting salary of $95,000 to $103,000/year our benefit plan dependent on experience for the selected applicant. Our Benefit Plan includes a 100% covered employee health care benefit including dental and vision. Automatic 3% - 401K contribution, 6-paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, and opportunities to participate in our success focused performance-based annual Bonus program.

Required Qualification

• Current valid California Registered Professional Forester’s license with a minimum of one-year working experience as an RPF.

Perfered Qualifications

• Current ISA Certified Arborist with TRAQ Certification or willingness to sit for the tests within 6 months of hire
• Current Department of Pesticide Regulation PCA or QAL licenses

· Valid Driver’s license with excellent driving record

• Strong plant identification skills
• Knowledge of ANSI - Z133, safety requirements for arboricultural practices
• Knowledge of general Microsoft applications
• Must be results oriented
• Ability to prioritize, multitask and work independently

Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. The successful applicant must be a team leader, present themselves in a professional manor and poses positive client/customer service skills. A strong working knowledge in ESRI - ArcGIS, Arc View software products, and Trimble GPS products along with general Microsoft computer skills are required.
