Summary: The Administrator is responsible for the overall management of the facility. This position reports to the CEO on matters of internal operation, finance, policies and procedures. The Administrator is responsible for public relations through community involvement and works with public agencies, educational groups, etc. Must have thorough knowledge of nursing home standards, regulations, and be able to function under stress. The Administrator is on salary and is expected to work 40 hours or more weekly, if necessary, to complete duties.

Salary: Negotiable depending upon education and experience.
Key Responsibilities And Expectations
Policies
- Works in cooperation with the Management Team to approve all policies and procedures of the facility.
- Interprets policies of general nature when necessary.
- Assists the Management Team to present to the Board of Directors on policies and procedures requiring their approval (Personnel, Residents, etc.).
- Assists the Management Team to oversee development and enforcement of the policies and procedures approved by the Board of Directors within the facility.
- Assists the Management Team to make recommendations to the Board of Directors for changes in internal operations as well as physical plant improvements or needs.
Personnel
- Assists the Management Team regarding the approval of hiring and dismissal of all personnel.
- Interviews and hires all Department Head positions.
- Evaluates Department Heads on an annual basis.
- Handles differences among staff when an agreeable solution is unable to be reached between staff.
Finance
- Assist the Management Team on reporting to the Board of Directors on current, monthly and year-to-date financial status of the facility.
Meetings
- Attends educational seminars to be constantly aware of new State and Federal regulations for nursing homes.
- Reports all findings from surveys conducted by State and Federal governments to the CEO.
- Assists with Management Team to enter into contractual agreements with consultants, hospitals, Medicare, and Medicaid, etc. after review by Bethany's legal counsel.
- Conducts and participates in Department Head meetings, QAPI meetings, Resident and Employee Safety Committee meetings, All Staff meetings, all other irregular meetings, such as lunch with employees, etc., and any additional meetings necessary for communication and the successful conduct of facility operations.
- Meets with Bethany's consultants and Department Heads to be continually informed of Department functions.
Resident Involvement
- Attends activities of resident's programs at various times.
- Make rounds periodically to personally visit with the residents and observe the functioning of the various departments and nursing home wings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Business or a health care related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Must possess or be able to obtain an Administrator's license in the state of South Dakota.
- Six months of preceptorship under a licensed preceptor Administrator.

Working Conduct
- Must be able to be assertive on matters of policies and procedures. Must be able to be tactful and courteous in dealing with residents, families, and personnel.
- Must be alert to problems and be flexible to establish stability when changes occur or are instigated.
- Must have good judgement in handling personnel conduct and be able to detect problems within departments and make sound judgements and take appropriate action in a quick and efficient manner.
- The Administrator is responsible for creating an atmosphere conductive to the team approach by Department Heads to provide residents with total resident care.
- Be of good moral character and have a genuine interest in the elderly.
- Must be able to see, hear, and comprehend, as well as communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- Promote Bethany Home in a positive way and install teamwork in providing services to our employees and residents.

- Heated/Air conditioned, well-lit facility with minimal barriers.
